Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend. For me, this was easily the most legendary weekend I have had since living in Austin. It was so much fun!
I’m so happy to be checking more things off my “Austin bucket list,” with my first University of Texas football game and Austin City Limits music festival.
Since I didn’t go to UT, I had obviously never been to a game. Actually, I’ve only been to 2 other Division I football games in my life. So when I had the opportunity to sit in the students’ section with my friends, I was super excited to be a Longhorn for a day! 😉
UT ended up losing to Baylor, but it was a pretty good game. From what I’ve heard about Baylor’s rankings, it could have been a lot worse. And did I mention our seats were in the front row?!
It was an awesome experience, and I’m so glad my friends let me tag along. Thanks, girls! It was a beautiful day — even a little hot. I heard there was frost back home in Pennsylvania… and here I was getting sunburn! ; )
On Sunday, after an early morning Trader Joe’s run (more on that for WIAW), I headed down to Zilker Park for my first ever Austin City Limits festival.
Throughout the course of the day I saw Kongos, The Gaslight Anthem, Jenny Lewis, Spoon, The Replacements and Pearl Jam. Clearly Pearl Jam is a bit before my time, but they brought down the house. They were amazing.
It sounds corny, but once the sun went down and things cooled off, I felt pretty awesome. I was sitting in the grass, looking up at the spotlights in the sky and the nearly full moon, taking everything in and just feeling totally thankful.
It was a weekend full of fun, new experiences. I’m so grateful to have been a part of them!
