Last night, walking along South Congress street in Austin, I saw this tidbit of inspiration written on the sidewalk:
I’m sure this phrase would have a ton of different meanings to different people, but I decided to take it lightly. Everything I’ve ever wanted in life?…
How about an Almond Joy Milkshake from Hopdoddy?!
Oh yes. Now, this isn’t your typical milkshake. Hopdoddy is a legendary burger restaurant in Austin where the line to be seated is constantly wrapped around the back of the building. Their specialty burgers (Angus, tuna, black bean, you name it!) , parmesan truffle fries, and gigantic shakes are seriously to die for. Almond Joy is my favorite flavor of ice cream, so I clearly had to go for it. 🙂 It was amaaazing!
Hopdoddy’s Almond Joy Shake consists of homemade vanilla ice cream, coconut cream, almond butter (!), chocolate sauce, toasted coconut flakes, whipped cream, and sliced almonds. I died.
So, um, classify that one under a “yolo meal.” Amazing!
Today after a 9AM Body Pump class and a lap or two around the SFC Farmer’s Market, I tried my best to recreate last night’s indulgence in a healthier way.
Healthy “Almond Joy” Yogurt Bowl
Serves one! I mixed, roughly:
- 6 oz. nonfat plain Greek yogurt
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp Biochem chocolate vegan protein powder (can omit)
- 1/2 Tbsp chopped walnuts
- 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes
- a dab of almond butter
- 2-3 Tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/2 stevia packet
.. and topped it with some Post Great Grains Cinnamon Hazelnut cereal. It wasn’t exactly the same as the milkshake. ; ) But a pretty decent substitute!
I was also pretty happy with my farmer’s market finds:
Loving the fresh peppers… and total hatch chili craziness right now in Texas. I plan to cook them up with some Trader Joe’s vegan chorizo later or tomorrow. 🙂 I’ll let you know how it goes!
